Bring Your A Game. Mario Van Peebles. Snagfilms. Snag Learning, 2009. Web. 4 May
2011. <http://learning.snagfilms.com/film/bring-your-a-game>.
Information: This director is very known. He has made many documentaries
and helped inform many people. This was an informational video. It is
inteded for anyone who wants to know about urban youth.
Summary: This is a documentary about the urban youth, and mostly
African American youth. The director shows how important it is to stay in
school, and dropping out is at an all time high of 50%, and needs to
dwindle down. There are many celebrities in this documentary talking about
the importance of education, and that living on the streets will get you no
where in life.
Evidence: The author gives statistics, and talks about the effects of
people dropping out, and the effects of staying in school and what is the
difference and what will happen. In the documentary one man says "Your
destiny is up to you" which is very true because it's all up to that
one person to make their own decision.
Evaluation: This documentary is very clear and well-researched.
You need an education in order to make money, and the earnings over a life
time will change variously if you go to college.

Information: The director has made other documentaries, and the boys he filmed were just average little boys growing up in a bad neighborhood. This is informational, but it's also very real because it's these boys actual lives, and how they were filmed and shows how they were living. It is very personal. This is intended for anyone.
Summary: "This documentary about the aspirations of high-school basketball players from inner city Chicago won awards from the Sundance film festival, the New York Film Critics Circle, and the Academy Award (Oscar) for best editing. Two young men are followed during their entire high-school career, beginning with their participation in playground games and ending with their being recruited by colleges. The obstacles these young men face include parental drug addiction, family poverty, and inner-city violence, as well as the usual obstacles that arise in competition, including physical injuries.
Evidence: The facts are visual because it is a film. The viewer is able to see for themselves the harsh truth of living in this kind of enviornment. The director shows my beliefs because it shows how its hard to get a good future out of this. It's much harder to go to college when you live in a very bad neighborhood, compared to living somewhere nice in the suburbs.
Evaluation: Yes, it was very clear, and very interesting. I loved this film.
